Mechanical Engineer, Flight Mechanisms & Stage Separation

Mach Industries•Victorville, CA
•$105,000 - $180,000

About The Position

Mach Industries is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to design and develop mechanisms for flight vehicles, stage separation, and ground launch systems. The role focuses on flight mechanisms and Tier 1 vehicle components, including static and dynamic mechanisms. The engineer will contribute across design, analysis, prototyping, integration, and test, working closely with teams responsible for vehicle and launch-system development. The position may require access to information protected under U.S. export-control laws and regulations. Employment may be conditioned on authorization to receive controlled software or technology without sponsorship for an export license. Candidates must meet the stated U.S. citizenship, residency, refugee, or asylee requirements, or be eligible to obtain required authorizations.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of mechanical engineering experience in mechanisms, vehicle hardware, or related systems.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field.
  • Strong 3D CAD skills, such as NX or SolidWorks.
  • Flight-hardware experience, including design, integration, or test of vehicle mechanisms.
  • Experience developing static and/or dynamic mechanisms for aerospace or other demanding applications.
  • Available to work extended hours and weekends as needed.
  • Must meet applicable U.S. export-control eligibility requirements or be eligible to obtain required authorizations.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with stage-separation systems or launch mechanisms.
  • Experience with Tier 1 vehicle components.
  • Familiarity with mechanism dynamics, actuation, release systems, or deployment systems.
  • Experience with FEA, mechanism simulation, or other engineering analysis tools.

Responsibilities

  • Own the design and development of static and dynamic mechanisms for vehicle applications.
  • Develop stage-separation and ground-launch mechanical systems.
  • Design and integrate Tier 1 flight-mechanism components, with a focus on flight hardware rather than ground-support equipment alone.
  • Create CAD models, drawings, and interface definitions for mechanism assemblies.
  • Perform mechanism analysis and assess loads, motion, clearances, and deployment or separation behavior.
  • Support prototyping, hardware integration, and hands-on testing.
  • Use test results to refine designs and improve reliability and manufacturability.
  • Contribute to test plans, technical documentation, and engineering reviews.
  • Support critical project milestones, including extended hours or weekends when needed.

Benefits

  • Performance-based incentives tied to individual and company performance.
  • Stock options or equity participation.
  • Healthcare, dental, and vision plans.
  • Retirement savings plans.
  • Paid time off.
  • Funds for continuing education, training, and career growth.
  • Professional development opportunities.
