About The Position

As a mechanical engineer for General Dynamics Mission Systems, Undersea Mission Solutions, you’ll be a member of and may lead a cross functional team responsible for the development of electronic and mechanical packaging design, and validation, including: structural and thermal analysis, shock and vibration, and design for manufacturability. This position is fully on-site, OR Hybrid/Flex as permitted. While on-site, you will be a part of the McLeansville, NC Engineering Team.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, or a related Science, Engineering or Mathematics field, plus a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience; or Master's degree, plus 6 months relevant experience.
  • Department of Defense Secret security clearance is preferred, but must be obtainable within a reasonable amount of time after hire.
  • Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
  • U.S. citizenship is required.
  • Proficiency with modeling CAD tools to create mechanical models and drawings.
  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing and fabrication methods, as well as technical, government, and industry standards.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Attention to detail and ability to document technical information to be consumed by technical and non-technical individuals.

Nice To Haves

  • Working knowledge of computer aided analysis tools (thermal, CFD, structural), such as Ansys.
  • Working knowledge of computer aided design tools (3D, 2D, layout), such as Creo.
  • Experience with small form factor, high power electromechanical elements.
  • Self-starting, detail-focused, problem solver.
  • Experience with high-pressure applications, including sealing technologies.
  • Dynamic Modeling utilizing MatLab.
  • Creative thinker capable of leading a team in the preparation of project design, testing, and prototype fabrication.
  • Team player who thrives in collaborative environments and revels in team success.
