Requirements

  • BS in ME or a relevant field.
  • 2+ years of industry experience in mechanical designing.
  • Engineering skills and Problem-Solving skills.
  • CAE experience in mechanical and thermal simulation.
  • Fluent in 3D CAD software, ideally Siemens NX, to design and draw equipment-related parts, modules, and assemblies per ASME Y14.5M standard.
  • Fluent in Ansys CAE software in mechanical/thermal, dynamic/static analysis.
  • Familiarity with design for function, reliability, serviceability, manufacturability, and cosmetic requirements.
  • Solid hands-on ability to integrate, debug/troubleshoot, and demonstrate robust solutions in an engineering lab environment.
  • Fluent in daily English conversation.
  • Fluent in technical communication with data, models, and ideas.
  • Fluent in technical reporting and documentation.
  • Ability to commute to the office frequently.
  • Ability to carry 20lbs parts around.

Nice To Haves

  • Glass Fractography experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Simulating and analyzing waveguide and waveguide stack mechanical and thermal models.
  • Collaborating with backend engineers, characterizing experimental results, and comparing them to simulations.
  • Providing insights from simulations/experiments to the backend team for performance improvement, with minimal mechanical engineering guidance.
  • Following all safety protocols in day-to-day activities.
  • Communicating technical ideas and concepts to other mechanical engineers and non-mechanical engineers.
  • Interfacing with internal and external customers to understand and solve issues.
  • Designing/modeling mechanical modules and components, such as waveguide, cover glasses, and waveguide stacks.
  • Setting up CAE models, performing analysis, and interpreting data.
  • Performing experiments to correlate analysis with tests and calibrating models.
  • Guiding or providing technical insights from analysis for performance improvement.
  • Documenting analysis results, presenting them to internal/external customers, and aligning directions with them.
  • Generating drawings per internal and relevant industrial standards.
