About The Position

Plansee USA LLC is seeking a Mechanical Engineer for their Plansee site in Franklin, USA. This role specializes in transforming semi-finished molybdenum and tungsten products into complex components, leveraging decades of precision manufacturing and engineering excellence. The Mechanical Engineer will join a highly motivated team where local expertise meets the global knowledge and values of the Plansee Group. This is an Exempt position.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field and/or equivalent combination of directly related experience and education.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience using CAD Software to produce 3D Solid models, assemblies, and drawings.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience working in a manufacturing related role, supporting CNC Machining and/or sheet metal fabrication.
  • High level working knowledge and experience reading and interpreting drawings to AMSE & ISO drafting standards.
  • Must be able to read and interpret drawings, specifications, and GD&T.
  • Basic understanding of MRP functions in a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to use MS Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, Project).
  • Ability present technical information and report project status to cross functional teams and management.
  • Must possess exceptional project management, communication, and multi-tasking skills with the ability to prioritize responsibilities to meet deadlines.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with AutoCAD, Solidworks & Siemens NX is also plus and will be considered.
  • Additional hands on experience in machining, fabrication, mechanical inspection, and/or tool & fixture design is a plus.
  • Previous experience using SAP is a plus.
  • BOMs, Routers, Material Masters, etc.

Responsibilities

  • Use CAD software to create/update 3D Solid Models, assemblies, and drawings relating to customer projects and engineering support orders.
  • Create/update supplemental project documentation including but not limited to, machine programs, tool and fixture design drawings, process flows, setup information and work instructions, project plans/timelines, and presentations.
  • Provide technical input and task estimates on customer job requirements.
  • Interact with sales and production departments on current engineering activities and new orders.
  • Carry out independent technical investigations involving the application of a wide variety of mechanical engineering principles in the origination or modification of materials, components, process specifications, and manufacturing processes.
  • Perform necessary electrical/mechanical calculations to verify/validate design concepts.
  • Confer with vendors, suppliers, and manufacturing to gather necessary data required for the design development.
  • Support manufacturing during design, test, production phases.
  • Accountable for design orientated projects as assigned, from concept to production, including responsibilities for design reviews.
  • Support design review process through preparation, presentation, and follow-up on new projects.
  • Review, interpret, and communicate technical requirements on customer specifications to Engineering team members, as well as other departments, on required scope of work.
