About The Position

Figure is an AI robotics company building general-purpose humanoid robots with human-level intelligence. Our robots are engineered to perform a wide range of tasks in commercial and industrial environments. We are based in San Jose, CA and require 5 days/week in-office collaboration. It's time to build. We are looking for a Mechanical Engineer to own softgoods and plastic parts.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in mechanical engineering
• Experience working with industrial design departments
• Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Mechanical, Biomechanical, Robotics, Mechatronics, or similar field
• Expert in using 3D CAD software to design parts with complex geometry
• Experience with high volume manufacturing processes specifically injection molding and die cutting
• Experience designing and building prototypes
• Ability to write and maintain clean documentation for design processes.

Nice To Haves

• Experienced with simulation and analysis methodology (FEA, MATLAB etc.)
• Experience working with contract manufacturers.
• Experience with fabric manufacturing
• CATIA V6 Experience

Responsibilities

• Design parts in 3D CAD that satisfy load conditions, industrial design form factor, and durability requirements.
• Work closely with industrial designer to execute on the vision and form of the system
• Own the industrial design robot buck, keep up to date with latest files from our engineers and communicate with suppliers
• Design injection molded plastic parts with Class A surfaces
• Generate accurate 2D drawings using GD&T per ASME Y14.5.
• Inspect first articles, build test stands, and continuously support part on robot development platforms.
