About The Position

AtkinsRéalis is growing and our Western Canadian Engineering group is seeking a Mechanical Engineer / Project Manager to join our growing team in Vancouver. This role supports the execution of a wide variety of projects across the country by applying industry standard project management practices that are adapted to our organization’s processes. Technical knowledge of mechanical systems, experience with proposal writing, and experience with consulting engineering are necessary for this role. Our Engineering Services team in Western Canada are located in Calgary, Winnipeg, and Vancouver. This is a dynamic and tight-knit group, servicing local projects while contributing to large national and international projects. Our projects are varied and span Healthcare, National Defense, Light + Heavy Industrial, Transportation (Rail + Transit, Ports + Marines +Tunnels), Municipal, Federal (including Defense + Nuclear), and Institutional industries.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Registered as a Professional Engineer (P. Eng) with your local provincial engineering association, and willing to become a member in other provinces.
  • PMP designation or CAPM certification or willingness to obtain within 6 months of hiring.
  • Minimum 10 years’ of relevant experience in Engineering consulting with progressive responsibilities.
  • Strong knowledge of project management and controls practices is required.
  • Strong business acumen and client facing skills.
  • Demonstrable experience building and maintaining long-term relationships with clients (i.e. understanding client objectives, anticipating and meeting client needs, and growing our business).
  • Excellent leadership, communication, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

  • Manage both mechanical and multi-disciplinary engineering project deliverables in alignment with scope, schedule, budget, and quality standards in either a project management or engineer of record capacity (or both).
  • Lead and support business development initiatives, including proposal writing, building client relationships, and strategic planning for the Mechanical Engineering group in Western Canada.
  • Develop and maintain processes to support strong project management governance and be a champion for project management practices throughout the department.
  • Apply leadership and technical principles to oversee projects and mentor team members.
  • Collaborate with other engineering disciplines and communicate project status, issues, and solutions to stakeholders, including clients, management, and other departments to ensure successful project outcomes.
  • Use software tools such as AutoCAD, Revit, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Office to prepare deliverables as required.
