About The Position

ROCKWOOL is seeking a Mechanical Engineer/Project Engineer to join our Group Technology team. This position requires travel of 60%, both internationally and nationally, and the ability to relocate for extended time periods to project sites. The role involves working on projects for extended periods in the U.S., Canada, Europe, and/or Asia, and will be instrumental in the planning and implementation of new factories, such as the one in Wallula, WA. The position focuses on the delivery of mechanical and plumbing utilities to ensure all building and process equipment demands are met, including supply strategy, dimensioning, and backup considerations. The role also involves working with the design, installation, commissioning, and running-in of major projects.

Requirements

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • 4+ years working in a similar position, with site installation, mechanical design, machine construction, design specifications
  • 3D modelling using Inventor or a similar program
  • Ability to travel both nationally and internationally 60% of the time
  • Extended periods of presence at project sites are required, ie. temporary relocation
  • Strong communication skills
  • Adhere to confidentiality with proprietary processes

Responsibilities

  • Take full responsibility for project execution: mechanical, plumbing and fire protection utilities
  • Ensure that the necessary expertise from other departments (environment, safety, MMR’s) are included in the solutions
  • Communicate and supervise suppliers/contractors to place orders and follow up to ensure compliance with requirements
  • Ensure all documentation / reporting is done and archived following company directives and Group Technology rules, and available tools
  • Manage full mechanical utility scope for major projects, including: Compressed air, Water, Industrial water, Machine cooling water, Water sanitary installations, Potable water, Water treatment (reverse osmosis), Fire safety supply – living up to the FLPM (Fire & Loss Prevention Manual), Rain water collection, treatment and re-use (soil, surface and groundwater protection MMR), Erosion & Sedimentation – storm water management (coordination with contractor), Oxygen and CO2, Natural gas and Building heat (gas), HVAC
  • Partake in budgeting and the development of tender material for suppliers
  • Adhere to company’s code of conduct / values while representing company at all times
