About The Position

As a Mechanical Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and optimizing packaging solutions for integrated photonic circuits (PICs), and you will work with state-of-the-art equipment unique in Canada. The position is based in Bromont, with occasional travel to Montreal.

Requirements

• Degree in mechanical engineering or a related field.
• Similar professionnal Experience in a tech company
• Creativity and a strong sense of innovation
• Rigor, organization, and attention to detail
• Sense of responsibility and autonomy
• Fluent in french and english, written and spoken.

Nice To Haves

• Proficiency in SolidWorks
• Knowledge of a programming language
• Experience in micro-optical or electronic assembly technologies

Responsibilities

• Design innovative packaging solutions for PICs by integrating and balancing optical, thermal, mechanical, reliability, and manufacturability requirements.
• Create parametric 3D assembly models in SolidWorks and produce technical drawings of the parts.
• Select and compare the most suitable materials and components for PIC packaging, evaluating their optical, thermal, mechanical, and manufacturing impacts.
• Define assembly processes, program automated assembly sequences, and contribute to prototype fabrication.
• Collaborate with suppliers and equipment manufacturers, and establish operation, calibration, and maintenance protocols for the equipment.
• Work closely with photonic design, electronics, and microfabrication teams to develop, optimize, and validate prototypes.
• Perform opto-mechanical tests on manufactured parts.
