Mechanical Engineer (Mechanisms)

Lockheed MartinLittleton, CO
Onsite

About The Position

Lockheed Martin Space is seeking an experienced mechanical engineer to design and build mechanisms for spacecraft. These critical components include anything that moves on the satellite, such as hinges, gimbals, motors, gears, dampers, rotary joints, linear actuators, and deployables. The mechanisms design team supports all lines of business at Lockheed Martin, potentially involving designs for missions to Mars, next-generation GPS satellites, or national defense systems. The role involves establishing mechanism designs, participating in issue resolution, developing engineering documents, generating CAD drawings, collaborating with integrated product teams, representing the organization in reviews, and supervising the build and test of hardware. The position may also involve becoming a Certified Principal Engineer (CPE), who is technically responsible for the mechanism from inception through on-orbit operations. Lockheed Martin fosters an inclusive work environment that supports differences and big-picture thinking, with opportunities for volunteering and community involvement.
