About The Position

This position supports mechanical design and analysis on assigned components and subsystems with little guidance. The role involves creating or updating models, layouts, drawings, and supporting calculations following standards and references. The Mechanical Engineer Level I will assist with BOM creation, documentation updates, and release support activities. They will gain intermediate knowledge of major assemblies, functions, design requirements, and performance expectations of company products. The role also includes supporting manufacturing, purchasing, and assembly with technical questions, participating in and documenting design reviews, technical discussions, and problem-solving activities. The engineer will learn and apply company standards, safety requirements, and engineering practices. They will work with designers/drafters and engineers to support documentation content and accuracy, maintain organized technical records, and communicate technical information effectively across departments. Continuous improvement to reduce costs and participation in job planning and scheduling are also key aspects of the role. The engineer will take responsibility to ensure projects/tasks meet goals for cost, schedule, and product performance. Other duties as assigned may be required.

Requirements

  • 1 year minimum mechanical engineering experience
  • Intermediate understanding of Mechanical design fundamentals (Structures, vibrations, Mechanisms, machine components, etc.)
  • Intermediate understanding of Engineering calculations (Structural stress, strain, energy, etc., Thermodynamics, Kinematics, Fluids, Heat Transfer)
  • Intermediate understanding of Technical documentation (Mechanical Drawings, Tolerancing, GD&T, Technical Specifications, Test Plans, Engineering Change Control, Bill of Materials)
  • Intermediate knowledge of DFM/DFA procedures and processes
  • Intermediate knowledge of Pneumatic and hydraulic systems
  • Intermediate knowledge of Fabrication methods (welding, casting, forming, etc.)
  • Intermediate knowledge of Machining operations
  • Proficiency with Windows based PC operation and with Microsoft Office suite products.
  • Willingness to learn machine design, manufacturing processes, and product standards.
  • Strong learning agility, attention to detail, organization, and communication skills.
  • Strong communication skills including technical writing.
  • May be required to work and/or travel as necessary to meet project schedules and/or accomplish goals and objectives.

Nice To Haves

  • Additional internship, co-op, or project experience preferred.
  • FEA, Creo Simulate preferred but not required
  • 2D and 3D CAD/modeling tools; ProE or Creo experience preferred
  • ERP systems, preferably SAP
  • Applicable OSHA, ANSI, and CSA standards.
  • Experience with Python programming is preferred but not required.

  • Take responsibility to ensure projects/tasks meet goals for cost, schedule and product performance.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
