About The Position

The Mechanical Engineer Intern will support the design and development of tooling used in a chrome plating manufacturing environment. This role partners closely with a team of fabricators to create detailed 2D drawings, 3D models, and renderings using CAD software. The intern will assist in translating concepts into practical designs, contributing to the modification and improvement of tooling that supports production processes. This position provides hands-on experience in applying engineering principles within a collaborative, fast-paced fabrication setting.

Requirements

• Currently pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field
• Experience with CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Inventor, or similar)
• Strong understanding of basic engineering principles and design concepts
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings
• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
• Effective communication skills and ability to collaborate with a hands-on fabrication team

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with fabricators to design and develop tooling solutions for chrome plating operations
• Create detailed 2D drawings, 3D models, and renderings using CAD software
• Assist in developing and refining tooling designs for manufacturability and functionality
• Translate concepts and shop feedback into accurate technical drawings
• Support modifications and improvements to existing tooling
• Maintain organized documentation of designs, revisions, and specifications
• Participate in team discussions to solve engineering and production challenges
