About The Position

The Mechanical Engineer Intern provides hands-on engineering support to the Engineering team while gaining practical experience in product design, testing, documentation, and manufacturing processes within a manufacturing environment. This role offers exposure to mechanical engineering principles, product development activities, and continuous improvement initiatives. The intern will work closely with engineers and cross-functional teams to support engineering projects, maintain technical documentation, and assist with testing and validation activities.

Requirements

  • Current enrollment in a Bachelor's degree program in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering field.
  • Basic understanding of mechanical engineering principles and manufacturing processes.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and basic Microsoft Office tools.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and communicate technical information clearly.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with CAD software (SolidWorks, Creo, or similar) through coursework or projects preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist engineers with product design, development, and improvement projects under supervision.
  • Create and update engineering drawings, models, and documentation using CAD software.
  • Support engineering change requests by updating documentation, drawings, bills of material, and related records.
  • Assist with prototype builds, product testing, and validation activities.
  • Collect, organize, and analyze engineering test data and prepare summaries of findings.
  • Support research and development projects through data gathering, testing, and documentation.
  • Assist with the creation and maintenance of work instructions, test procedures, and technical documentation.
  • Participate in design reviews, continuous improvement initiatives, and problem-solving activities.
  • Collaborate with Manufacturing, Quality, and Supply Chain teams to support product development and production needs.
  • Assist with First Article Inspection and component qualification activities as assigned.
  • Maintain accurate engineering records and support document control processes.
  • Participate in team meetings to gain an understanding of engineering workflows, product development processes, and manufacturing operations.
