As a Mechanical Engineer Intern, you will support the Hardware Engineering Team in providing engineering design & development services to a wide range of products within Raytheon. The Critical Item Production Readiness (CPR) department is dedicated to ensuring that every product we develop is designed with its entire production lifecycle in mind. By integrating principles of manufacturability, assembly, scalability, and cost management, we aim to achieve production excellence while meeting the highest standards of quality and reliability. You would apply your skills to contribute to the requirement flow down, verification, environment stress screening and/or design-to-unit production cost (DTUPC) management for hardware in programs for Naval Power and Land and Air Defense Systems strategic business units. Working as an advocate for Hardware Engineering, you will coordinate between Systems Engineering and the Hardware Team to allocate the requirements, compile verification artifacts working with electrical (e.g. power/digital/RF/…) and mechanical (e.g. structural/thermal/material…) subject matter experts and develop compliance packages for design reviews and product requirements “sell off” with the customer. Similarly, for DTUPC tasking, you will coordinate between the Affordability Engineer and the Hardware team on critical items and technology to adjudicate cost reduction opportunities resulting in cost reduction initiatives.
