About The Position

Blue Canyon Technologies, RTX's small satellite manufacturer and mission services provider, is solving some of the toughest challenges in space. Blue Canyon Technologies is seeking a talented and enthusiastic Mechanical Engineer Intern to join our BCT Summer in Space Internship program. Applicants must be currently enrolled at an accredited college or university. In addition, applicants must be enrolled fall semester 2027. This will be a full-time position for the summer for 11 weeks, starting May 25 2027.

Requirements

  • Candidates must be working towards a BS/MS degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering.
  • Candidates must have completed at least 2 years of degree coursework including successful completion of the following courses: Materials Science (for engineers), Static Mechanics, Computer Aided Design (SolidWorks or similar CAD program)
  • Strong ability to work in teams and collaborate with peers and internal customers
  • Strong analytical skills – comfortable working with quantitative and qualitative data
  • Ability to learn new processes quickly and multi-task effectively
  • Effective communication skills; comfortable working in a team environment; high energy and desire to learn.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience through school or extracurricular projects

Responsibilities

  • Support ME staff in the development of structures, mechanisms, and electro-mechanical assemblies for small spacecraft, ranging from CubeSat-sized (10 cm square) up to ESPA- class-sized (24 x 28 x 38 inches).
  • Work with our team of experienced mechanical and aerospace engineers to create drawings, design assembly fixtures, create bills of materials, and other related tasks.
  • Interns pursuing advanced degrees will be exposed to more advanced design and analysis tasks as experience allows.
  • Perform other duties as assigned
