About The Position

CMTA, a Legence company, is seeking Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, and Architectural Engineering students for its robust co-op program. This program offers students the opportunity to immerse themselves for one or more semesters in the consulting engineering world, building industry-competitive skills in a hands-on environment. Co-ops will work on a team, be trained by Professional Engineers in AutoCAD and Revit, and create real construction drawings for CMTA projects. This full-time (40 hrs./week), onsite position offers competitive hourly pay, overtime pay eligibility, and starts in May 2027 through Summer 2027 (dates flexible with school calendar). CMTA hopes that hired co-op students will complete multiple rotations and may be considered for full-time employment upon graduation. This position provides hands-on training in mechanical/HVAC/energy design, working with a team and independently. Engineers will teach students how to design and implement mechanical systems/infrastructure and energy-efficient measures in building projects, offering a great opportunity to work on challenging MEP projects and become an important part of the design team.

Requirements

  • Pursuing a Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering or Architectural Engineering, preferably a sophomore (2nd year), or junior (3rd year)
  • Strong interest in Building Systems Mechanical Engineering
  • AutoCAD and REVIT experience preferred
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Ability to work both independently and with a team
  • Ability to work full time in our office throughout the co-op term
  • Ability to travel locally for job site inspections, field work, etc.
  • Must have current work authorization in the U.S.; visa sponsorship is not available for this position.

Nice To Haves

  • AutoCAD and REVIT experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Produce detailed layout and equipment details of HVAC systems
  • Produce one-line diagrams/schematics
  • Assist the design team in the process of assembling organized sets of drawings
  • May assist in the data collection and/or field verification
  • Work in conjunction with designers and engineers to help develop all aspects of a project
