Mechanical Engineer Intern/Co-op Spring 2027
About The Position
CMTA, a Legence company, is seeking Mechanical Engineer Interns/Co-ops for Spring 2027. This is a full-time (40 hrs./week), onsite position offering hands-on training in mechanical/HVAC/energy design. Interns will learn to design and implement mechanical systems and energy-efficient measures in building projects, contributing to complex MEP projects as part of the design team. The program provides an opportunity to build industry-competitive skills in a collaborative environment, working on real construction drawings under the guidance of Professional Engineers. CMTA hopes that hired co-op students will complete multiple rotations with the possibility of full-time employment upon graduation.
Requirements
- Pursuing a Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering or Architectural Engineering, preferably a sophomore (2nd year), or junior (3rd year)
- Strong interest in Building Systems Mechanical Engineering
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel
- Ability to work both independently and with a team
- Ability to work full time in our office throughout the co-op term
- Ability to travel locally for job site inspections, field work, etc.
- Candidates must have current work authorization in the U.S.; visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
Nice To Haves
- AutoCAD and REVIT experience preferred
Responsibilities
- Produce detailed layout and equipment details of HVAC systems
- Produce one-line diagrams/schematics
- Assist the design team in the process of assembling organized sets of drawings
- May assist in the data collection and/or field verification
- Work in conjunction with designers and engineers to help develop all aspects of a project
