About The Position

Persistent Systems is seeking a Mechanical Engineer, Integration to join their team in Fort Collins, CO. This role supports Air Force Communication System Programs and involves creating, modifying, and maintaining system-level mechanical drawings and assemblies using SolidWorks. The engineer will support system integration, test planning and execution, report generation, and responses to RFIs and RFPs. This position requires strong communication skills to collaborate with various departments (Sales, Field Operations, Programs Management, Engineering, and Quality) to provide customer solutions and to communicate technical challenges and new requirements to the engineering department.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, systems engineering, aerospace engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
  • 4 years of experience with SolidWorks, Autodesk Inventor, or equivalent 3D modeling programs
  • Experience creating and interpreting engineering drawings, assemblies, and technical documentation.
  • Ability to develop and maintain technical documentation such as ICDs, specifications, interface drawings, and engineering reports.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate technical information clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple engineering deliverables and priorities.
  • Experience with RF communications and/or network system integration
  • Proficiency in data collection and analysis
  • Proficiency in technical concepts such as wireless, mobile IP, RF propagation with an understanding of hardware and software concepts
  • Understanding of product development and systems architecture design
  • Experience working directly with customers and end users
  • Strong interpersonal and communications skills, written and verbal
  • Must be available to travel up to 25% of the time
  • Ability to obtain a Secret US Security Clearance

  • Experience with ANSI/ASME Y14.100-200 Engineering Drawing Practices
  • Experience working on U.S. Government or Department of Defense programs.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain an expert knowledge of Persistent Systems products to build customer relationships through interpreting and developing their requirements
  • Create, modify, and maintain system-level mechanical drawings and assemblies using SolidWorks.
  • Develop system layouts, interface drawings, and installation drawings.
  • Create, maintain, and update Interface Control Documents (ICDs) defining mechanical, electrical, physical, functional, and/or system interfaces.
  • Coordinate with engineering disciplines and external/internal stakeholders to identify, define, and resolve system interface requirements.
  • Prepare, update, review, and maintain Government CDRLs and other contractually required engineering documentation.
  • Support the development and maintenance of system specifications, requirements documentation, technical reports, design documentation, and engineering analyses.
  • Assist with system architecture, functional decomposition, requirements allocation, and technical baseline development.
  • Integrate Persistent Systems products to meet complex system requirements
  • Develop and carry out test procedures to determine that the outcome of the integration has met the requirements
  • Convey system integration progress to the management team, and escalate issues and concerns expediently
  • Identifying short-term and long-term customer issues; provide information and data pertinent to deliberations, and recommending options and courses of action
  • Conduct Root Cause analysis to troubleshoot customers’ integrated system issues and collaborate with the product development and test engineers to resolve technical issues.
  • Developing test plans, methodologies followed by final reports and summaries for both internal developers and external customers
  • Defining integration strategies and methods and then planning them in accordance with established deadlines and time schedules
  • Creating and providing technical documentation that explains upcoming or existing integrations to non-technical individuals
  • Developing technical portions of responses to RFI / RFP and other similar customer requirements
