The Mechanical Engineer II is a member of the R&D team responsible for design, analysis, fabrication, and testing of mechanical systems, sub-systems, and components in support of new product development and the improvement of existing products. This professional works on moderately complex problems and will make recommendations for change.
Requirements
- Skilled at use of one or more mechanical design and engineering analysis tools.
- Experienced in the process of design, rapid prototyping, construction, test, and analysis of components or subassemblies.
- Demonstrated skill in analyzing and solving problems of moderate complexity.
- Demonstrated working knowledge of design control activities in a regulated industry.
- Exposure to Design of Experiments methods
- Exposure to risk management processes and practices.
- Ability to perform basic troubleshooting of system problems to the component level.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering required with a minimum of 2 years of related experience, or an advanced degree without experience
Responsibilities
- Perform mechanical design activities of moderate complexity under the guidance of a senior level engineer.
- Develop and execute engineering studies and analysis of problems of moderate complexity.
- Leads basic design control projects adhering to applicable internal procedures, and external regulations and standards.
- Participate in risk management activities.
- Generates and maintains detailed 3D CAD models, manufacturing drawings, and technical documentation incorporating standard principles.
- Coordinates fabrication of prototype components and sub-assemblies as necessary.
- Develops, documents, and executes verification and validation test protocols to evaluate prototype performance.
- Perform related duties as assigned by supervisor
