About The Position

Job Summary: Design, develop, and review testing of mechanical systems and components for various types of products in the HVAC market under the guidance of more experienced engineers and/or Management. Handles mid-sized projects that involve interaction with multiple groups and departments, have clear deadlines and are part of the company’s development roadmap. Essential Responsibilities/Activities: Produces written reports, updates and presentations that convey the status of his/her projects. Uses computer software to design refrigeration systems. Selects refrigeration components to meet product requirements and ratings. Evaluates new products through testing and meetings with potential vendors. Develops and reviews test plans to ensure the product meets the design requirements. Works closely with the Product and Testing Engineering teams to generate Product Development Schedules. Analyzes test data to determine the product meets DOE, ASHRAE, and AHRI requirements. Communicates with the Product Engineering team to develop design standards and specifications. Confers with more experienced engineers and/or engineering management to complete assigned projects. Provides complete bill of material by defining when, where, and why parts are used. Reads and reviews electrical diagrams. Maintains and builds professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, or participating in professional societies. Travels, when necessary, for third party testing or product review at field test sites.

Requirements

  • Four-year ABET accredited degree in Engineering or equivalent technical degree in Applied Sciences.
  • 3-5 years in the HVAC industry or equivalent experience in a similar industry.
  • Communicates effectively in written and spoken form.
  • Possesses excellent interpersonal relationship skills.
  • Exhibits good decision making and analytical problem solving abilities.
  • Demonstrates strong multi-tasking capabilities and organizational skills.
  • Works effectively in a team environment.
  • Works effectively in a fast-paced high-pressure environment.
  • Lift up to 50lbs.
  • Sit or stand for up to 95 percent of work hours.

  • An advanced degree in a relevant field could be considered toward experience in the field of HVAC&R.
