Mechanical Engineer II - Corded/Cordless Products

SharkNinjaNeedham, MA
$78,000 - $115,000Onsite

About The Position

This is a front-end role where the engineer will be responsible for figuring out what's possible before a design brief exists. The role involves working at the edge of what's technically feasible, turning ambiguous consumer problems into working prototypes, and then turning those prototypes into product roadmap decisions. The engineer will be embedded in the early-stage innovation phase for Ninja's Corded/Cordless Products line, focusing on moving fast, validating ideas early, and handing off credible, consumer-tested solutions to the development team. This includes driving the front-end technology and feasibility roadmap, collaborating with global teams, building proof-of-concept rigs and functional prototypes, working across the full system (mechanical, sensors, software, batteries, connectivity), communicating ideas through various mediums, running design and engineering studies with a consumer focus, mentoring junior engineers, and staying close to IP development.

Requirements

  • BS in Mechanical Engineering, Product Design, or a closely related field
  • 2–4+ years of experience in mechanical engineering or product design
  • Hands-on experience designing electromechanical products in a product development environment
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks or Creo
  • Experience with plastic part design, including injection-molded, silicone, and rubber components
  • Comfortable in the lab: building prototypes, running tests, reporting findings, and determining next steps
  • Strong communicator — you can sketch an idea on a whiteboard and defend it in an engineering review

Nice To Haves

  • Background in consumer goods or household appliances
  • Experience designing sheet metal components
  • Familiarity working with IP teams to identify novel or inventive solutions

Responsibilities

  • Driving the front-end technology and feasibility roadmap for Corded/Cordless Products products, collaborating with engineering, industrial design, brand, and test kitchen teams across the US, UK, and China
  • Building proof-of-concept rigs and functional prototypes to stress-test ideas early — before the business invests in full development
  • Working across the full system: mechanical design, sensors, software, batteries, connectivity
  • Communicating ideas rapidly through sketching, CAD layouts, 3D models, and physical prototypes
  • Running design and engineering studies — solo and in teams — with the consumer experience as the north star at every stage
  • Mentoring junior engineers and contributing to a team culture that treats failure as signal, not setback
  • Staying close to IP development, identifying novel and inventive solutions alongside R&D
