The Mechanical Engineer will develop and support product designs, create and maintain engineering documentation, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve production and testing challenges. Responsibilities include mechanical design, prototyping, analysis, design verification, and supporting the transition of products from development to production.

Requirements

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics(STEM) and a minimum of 2 years of prior relevant experience unless prohibited by local laws/regulations.
  • Knowledge of NX Designer, Solidworks, or common fabrication practices (subtractive and additive)
  • Demonstrated practical experience with mechanical engineering design
  • U.S. Person (U.S. citizen, permanent resident, refugee or asylee) or eligible to obtain necessary export authorizations required.

Nice To Haves

  • Ability to translate requirements into physical design
  • Demonstrated experience interacting with various engineering teams comprised of other mechanical engineers, mechanical drafters, electrical engineers, software engineers and system engineers.
  • Candidate must be detail oriented and be able to excel in a team environment
  • Familiar with Collins or Avionics products
  • Mechanical test equipment design experience
  • Strong organizational skills with ability to effectively communicate design choices

Responsibilities

  • Develop designs, documentation creation and modification, production support
  • Contribute to the success of a cross-functional team to develop solutions to production and field testing problems. This could include initial design, prototyping, and environment testing solutions.
  • Develop and review product designs and analyze development and design requirements
  • Design of test stations, fixtures, cables, interconnects and associated documentation
  • Perform tolerance analysis
  • Prepare and present project / technical information to peers, internal management and customers
  • Plan and manage tasks effectively
  • Facilitate documentation and drawings of mechanical designs from inception through release
  • Specific tasks include enclosure structural design, thermal, vibration, other environmental considerations, design verification, prototype build and production transition to the factory.
