About The Position

The Mechanical Engineer I will process machine system orders, match assemblies or component parts to machine order specifications, and design custom components. This role involves creating CAD assemblies, part models, detail drawings, and Bills of Materials, ensuring accuracy through design reviews. The engineer will manage schedules to meet deadlines, report project status, and escalate any machine-related performance or safety concerns. Responsibilities also include assisting the assembly floor and manufacturing with engineering problems, maintaining engineering machinery template files, and processing engineering change orders. The role requires working with SolidWorks, PDM, and Infor Syteline for engineering data management.

Requirements

  • BSME plus zero to two years of experience or a two-year Associates Degree in Engineering plus five years of experience.
  • Formal training or job experience designing with SolidWorks or similar 3-D solid modeling package.
  • Able to read, understand, analyze and problem-solve mechanical drawings and engineering related software programs.
  • Able to use standard computer programs for work processing including Microsoft Office products.
  • Communicates clearly and effectively (verbally and non-verbally) to individuals and groups, internally and externally, to exchange ideas and convey detailed information accurately.
  • Works well with a variety of people and personalities, and with other Delkor departments.
  • Works collaboratively, as a team member, to suggest ideas and resolve issues in a positive manner.
  • Well organized with an aptitude for details.
  • Works independently and accurately with minimal supervision.
  • Able to maintain a positive work place environment under stressful situations.
  • Sit at a desk or in meetings for extended periods, including performing extensive computer tasks.
  • Possess arm and hand mobility and strength to lift, hold, reach, carry, push and pull machine parts on the floor.
  • See and judge distances and space relationships to successfully operate basic hand tools and other detailed activities to fine tolerances, including reading written plans and other documents.

Responsibilities

  • Process machine system orders with difficulty rating level 1 and 2.
  • Match appropriate assemblies or component parts to machine order specifications.
  • Design custom components and change parts to meet customer needs or specifications.
  • Create CAD assemblies, part models, detail drawings, and Bill of Materials for machine orders and verify accuracy.
  • Call for design review before releasing of assemblies.
  • Adjust schedule to meet design and release deadlines.
  • Report projects that are falling behind schedule to the Engineering Supervisor or Engineering Manager.
  • Report any machine-related performance or safety concerns that are not being addressed to the Engineering Manager.
  • Escalate machine performance or safety concerns and support corrective actions.
  • Assist assembly floor and manufacturing to solve engineering problems.
  • Maintain engineering machinery template files.
  • Work with SolidWorks, PDM and Infor Syteline to maintain all engineering data.
  • Process engineering change orders.
  • Perform other tasks or duties as assigned.
