In this position, you will support mechanical designs of Cesium products through all phases of the development process. The candidate may be involved with electronics packaging design, mechanical simulations and analyses, computer-aided design (CAD), spacecraft mechanical interfaces, and environmental qualification of electronic assemblies. As a Cesium mechanical team member, you may be responsible for mechanical designs from initial concept design through requirements definition, detailed design, simulation, analysis, manufacturing, testing, qualification, and in-orbit support of Cesium's products. The ideal candidate will have skills and experience that include thermal management design, precision machining principles, thermal simulation and analysis, shock and vibration simulation and analysis, electromagnetic interference/compatibility (EMI/EMC) mitigation techniques, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T), finite element analysis (FEA), and cost analysis to develop, validate, and optimize mechanical designs. The successful candidate may also present engineering design review materials. As such, excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science (BS) and minimum of 1 year of industry experience in design and analysis.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical engineering principles.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with CAD tools such as SolidWorks, CATIA, Creo, or AutoCAD.
  • Practical understanding of DFM/DFMA implications of material and process selection.
  • Knowledge of GD&T, drafting standards, and engineering documentation practices.
  • Experience with Engineering analysis tools such as (ANSYS, MATLAB, or similar).
  • Experience with CNC manufacturing.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with electronics assemblies and experience working with electrical engineers.
  • Aerospace industry internships or experiences.
  • Electronics packaging, including thermal, vibration, and stress dynamics, or in spacecraft structures and mechanisms.
  • Exposure to EMI/EMC mitigation techniques.
