About The Position

The Shipboard Effectors Department is currently searching for a Mechanical Design Engineer I to work on a multi-discipline team to support the production of Shipboard Effectors products and subsystems located in Tucson, AZ. This is an onsite role with regular support required in a production facility. This Mechanical Engineering position performs in alignment to expectations in the design, development and production support areas associated with mechanical designs, validation principals, qualification processes, procurement, and production processes across a design life cycle. Development work may include requirements understanding, concept development, DFMAs, PFMAs, margin analysis, technical data package (TDP) development, application of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing principals, engineering test principals, preparation of technical analysis reports, and presenting in design reviews.

Requirements

  • Bachelor degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) major obtained by start date.
  • Experience with 3D CAD tools (modeling and drawing)
  • Experience with interpreting assembly and/or component drawings
  • Experience may be obtained through on-the-job experience, research, coursework, or projects
  • Active and transferable U.S. government issued security clearance is required prior to start date.
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance
  • Ability to obtain INTERIM U.S. government issued security clearance is required prior to start date

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) per ANSI Y14.5
  • Proficient in Creo (modeling and drawing) and Windchill (PDM)
  • Mechanical aptitude to provide solutions to a variety of technical problems of moderate scope and complexity.

Responsibilities

  • Technical execution of tasks, recommending solutions to a wide range of complex technical problems related to the design, manufacture, integration, and production sustainment of various mechanical sub-systems both in the engineering lab and the factory floor both at Raytheon Technologies and at suppliers.
  • Contributing to first article inspections, work instruction reviews, material dispositions, and root cause investigations to production issues.
  • Preparing technical justification analysis reports and presenting to a variety of Engineering Review Boards.
  • Commitment to program schedule and budget.
