About The Position

The Mechanical Engineer I is an entry‑level engineering role responsible for supporting the design, development, analysis, and implementation of mechanical systems, components, or assemblies. This role applies fundamental engineering principles to solve well‑defined problems and supports product development, manufacturing, and continuous improvement initiatives. The Mechanical Engineer I supports engineering projects by performing engineering calculations, developing design concepts, assisting with testing or validation activities, and supporting documentation and change processes. The role is developmental in nature and focuses on building core engineering skills, technical judgment, and understanding of products, processes, and systems. This position typically reports to a Mechanical Engineering Manager, Lead Mechanical Engineer, or Engineering Supervisor.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering discipline required
  • Entry‑level role; typically 0–2 years of engineering experience
  • Fundamental knowledge of mechanical engineering principles
  • Basic understanding of materials, mechanics, and manufacturing processes
  • Familiarity with CAD tools (e.g., SolidWorks, Creo, Inventor, AutoCAD, or similar)
  • Ability to perform basic engineering calculations and analysis
  • Strong problem‑solving and analytical skills
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
  • Strong attention to detail and documentation accuracy
  • Willingness to learn and accept technical guidance

Nice To Haves

  • Internship, co‑op, or academic project experience in mechanical engineering preferred

Responsibilities

  • Support the design and development of mechanical components, assemblies, or systems
  • Apply basic mechanical engineering principles to solve routine engineering problems
  • Assist with generating design concepts, layouts, and supporting documentation
  • Perform basic engineering analyses (e.g., strength, load, tolerance, thermal) under guidance
  • Support validation of designs through calculations, simulations, or testing
  • Create or review CAD models and drawings in collaboration with designers
  • Ensure designs and drawings align with engineering intent and requirements
  • Support preparation and maintenance of bills of materials, specifications, and reports
  • Support engineering change processes, including evaluation and documentation of changes
  • Assess impact of changes on form, fit, function, and manufacturability
  • Assist with implementation of approved engineering changes
  • Partner with Manufacturing, Quality, and Supply Chain teams to support production needs
  • Assist with resolving engineering issues identified on the shop floor or during testing
  • Support design‑for‑manufacturability and design‑for‑assembly efforts
  • Assist with prototype builds, testing, or validation activities
  • Support root cause investigations and corrective actions for engineering issues
  • Ensure compliance with applicable safety, quality, and regulatory requirements
  • Build knowledge of products, materials, manufacturing processes, and engineering standards
  • Learn company engineering tools, systems, and procedures
  • Participate in training, mentoring, and development activities
