About The Position
The Mechanical Engineer 1 provides engineering support for the commercialization, application, and customization of all Starline products. Works under clearly defined guidelines and under close supervision of the manager and other engineers.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Relevant experience in the mechanical engineering field, either in a professional or academic setting.
- Familiarity with low voltage power distribution equipment preferred.
- Familiarity with electrical codes and standards preferred.
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally as required up to 10%.
- Relevant internship/co-op experience preferred.
- Experience using AutoCAD, Inventor, and/or VAULT.
- Experience with an ERP system preferred.
- Exceptional organizational, time management, communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools.
- Familiarity with principles and processes for providing customer satisfaction, including customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
- Familiarity with project management processes and principles.
Responsibilities
- Conceptualize and implement Design for Manufacturability (DFM) / Test (DFT) / Assembly (DFA) and Full Turnkey solutions.
- Support the engineering team tasked with the commercialization and launch of Starline-designed products.
- Perform mechanical engineering design tasks in support of customer-specific customizations of Starline products.
- Assist in creating technical documentation such as drawings, O&M Manuals, installation instructions, work instructions, and product catalogs.
- Support the integration of third-party products with Starline’s product offerings.
- Conduct testing under supervision to verify product performance, system integration, and compliance with applicable standards.
- Partner with Production, Quality, and Purchasing staff to ensure product manufacturability.
- Assist in supporting improvements to Starline’s engineering information systems to ensure high-quality engineering information is provided to production and other customers of this information.
- Support the automation of design tasks.
- Provide jobsite support.
- Collaborate with certification laboratories such as UL, CSA, and Intertek (ETL), as well as various international agencies.
- Provide lab testing support.
- Participate in team-based initiatives within Starline.
