About The Position

This position is for an entry level Design Engineering professional, working independently in our Gearboxes and Starters team. Checks completed layouts, communicates with other engineering personnel, resolves design problems, designs new products, maintains existing products, resolves difficult-to-complex design problems, and implements common procedures. This role is onsite, in Rockford, Illinois. This role may be eligible for relocation.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) obtained prior to start.
• U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract.
• Experience in a design engineering environment. Experience may be obtained through on-the-job experience, research, coursework, or projects.

Nice To Haves

• Strong understanding of tolerance stack-ups and GD&T.
• Experience with design tools such as CAD and Matlab.

Responsibilities

• Review and design component layouts, ensuring clarity, accuracy, and compliance with engineering standards and project requirements.
• Collaborate with engineering and manufacturing teams to coordinate designs and resolve complex technical and production problems.
• Develop new products and processes while improving and maintaining existing ones to meet current and future business needs.
• Create and evaluate design proposals, including layouts, calculations, prototypes, cost studies, and considerations for manufacturability and materials.
• Design, develop, and test structures, components, and fabrication processes while implementing standard work to optimize efficiency and quality.
