About The Position

This position supports the development and documentation of engineered low- and medium-voltage power distribution equipment designed in accordance with UL 891 standards within a fast-paced manufacturing environment. The Mechanical Engineer I is responsible for producing and maintaining 3D CAD models, 2D drawings, and associated Bills of Materials using Autodesk Inventor with Vault, while translating technical inputs into accurate, manufacturable outputs that meet project requirements and established standards. Responsibilities include incorporating redlines into as-built documentation, creating and maintaining project and production-related assets, supporting production through on-floor interaction, and ensuring consistency, organization, and quality throughout the design process. Working under the guidance of senior designers and engineers, this role requires coordination with cross-functional teams, clients, vendors, and internal stakeholders to incorporate feedback, maintain alignment with project objectives, and support the successful execution of multiple projects. Clear communication, attention to detail, and adherence to company processes are critical to success, along with the ability to build effective working relationships across all levels of the organization.

Requirements

  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in engineering, drafting, or a related technical field; equivalent work experience will be considered.
  • Experience with 3D CAD software in an academic or professional setting including PDM tools such as Autodesk Vault, Solidworks PDM, etc.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, and design requirements.
  • Basic understanding of mechanical design principles and manufacturing processes.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to produce accurate design documentation.
  • General computer proficiency and ability to work within shared systems and workflows.

Nice To Haves

  • Demonstrated understanding of 3-phase Power Distribution Fundamentals.
  • Experience in a manufacturing or engineered-to-order environment.
  • Familiarity with PDM/PLM systems and revision-controlled documentation.
  • Exposure to bill of materials (BOM) creation and structured data management.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks across different stages of a project.
  • Strong communication skills when working with cross-functional teams.
  • Willingness to learn new tools, systems, and processes.
  • Ability to identify and resolve design issues with guidance.
  • Understanding of industry standards, codes, or compliance requirements relevant to the business.
