About The Position

This position is exclusively intended for candidates who successfully completed the F5 Summer 2026 Internship Program and have received an invitation to apply for a return role. The Mechanical Engineer I will be responsible for exploring, developing, and delivering innovative solutions in alignment with the product development strategic direction and operational priorities. The candidate will help innovate the next generation of products by understanding our customers’ needs and translating them into functional solutions to provide safe and effective products. As a member of the mechanical engineering development team, the Mechanical Engineer I position will be expected to solve mechanical related problems and participate in the specification, design, and test for the next generation product platform.

Requirements

  • Successfully completed a Summer 2026 internship with F5
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field graduating between December 2026 and September 2027
  • Must be able to start no later than September 30th, 2027
  • Must be able to work onsite in accordance with F5s policies; fully remote work options are not available
  • Ability to design / solve engineering problems with senior level mechanical review
  • Provide technical information for mechanical engineering projects with reasonable complexity and scope
  • An ability to draw conclusions and make recommendations based on technical inputs from multiple and varied functions (i.e. Manufacturing, Quality, Regulatory, etc.)
  • Having a strong mechanical aptitude
  • Proven communication skills and ability to perform within a cross-functional team environment
  • An understanding in one or more mechanical engineering design tools, i.e. SolidWorks, Pro-Engineer, or Inventor
  • An understanding in linear and non-linear structural analysis, thermal analysis, fluid dynamics, and/or multi-physics simulations
  • An understanding of tolerance analysis

Responsibilities

  • Under general supervision, responsible for contributing to project design and test of mechanical related efforts
  • Communicate key information and recommendations to the senior mechanical team members for consideration of technical decisions and strategy
  • Learn and contribute to design requirements and processes in accordance with manufacturing, customer expectations, and common mechanical requirements
  • An ability to identify and analyze design problems to achieve optimal solutions that satisfy cost and technical requirements using both internal and external technical resources.
  • Communicate project planning status, tasks and deliverables and manage time to meet project deadlines. This includes reporting pertinent information at key milestones through clear and concise oral and written communications
  • Engage in personal and continuing program of learning in order to broaden knowledge in mechanical engineering and to gain knowledge in new fields of general engineering in order to improve the individual effectiveness and to avoid technical obsolescence.
