Senior Mechanical Engineer

About The Position

We're looking for a licensed Mechanical Engineer who wants more than a stamp and a stack of drawings — someone ready to shape the mechanical systems of tomorrow's buildings while shaping their own career path toward leadership. This is a firm where engineers are known by name, mentorship is built into the week (not squeezed in), and there's a real, visible track to principal and ownership for people who want it. If you're a PE with a strong HVAC background who's ready to take on more complex projects, mentor junior staff, and have a genuine say in how the firm grows — we want to talk to you.

Requirements

  • Active California PE license (Mechanical)
  • 5–10 years of HVAC design experience in a consulting engineering environment
  • Proficiency with Trane Trace, Carrier HAP, or equivalent load/energy modeling software
  • Strong working knowledge of Title 24 energy compliance and ASHRAE 90.1/62.1
  • Experience with Revit/AutoCAD MEP; BIM coordination experience a plus
  • A track record of mentoring or a genuine interest in developing others
  • Excellent communication skills — you can explain a design decision to a client as clearly as to a junior engineer

Nice To Haves

  • BIM coordination experience

Responsibilities

  • Lead mechanical/HVAC design for commercial, institutional, healthcare, and/or industrial projects from concept through construction administration
  • Perform and oversee load calculations, equipment selection, ductwork and piping design, and energy modeling
  • Ensure designs meet California Title 24, ASHRAE standards, and applicable building codes
  • Review and stamp drawings and calculations as the engineer of record
  • Collaborate directly with architects, contractors, and clients — often as the primary technical point of contact
  • Mentor and develop junior engineers and designers, reviewing their work and helping them grow toward licensure
  • Contribute to proposals, client relationships, and business development as your role expands
  • Help shape internal standards, tools, and processes — your ideas carry real weight here

Benefits

  • Competitive salary, commensurate with experience (details provided upon application)
  • Performance bonuses
  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance
  • 401(k) with company match
  • PE license renewal and professional development support
  • Generous PTO and flexible/hybrid work arrangements
  • Clear path toward Associate and Principal-level advancement
