Requirements

  • Two years as a Mechanical Engineer 2 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or Four years of professional mechanical engineering experience which required work on any structural mechanical system.
  • Possession of a Professional Engineer license issued by the Pennsylvania State Registration Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors and Geologists.
  • Possession of a valid driver’s license.
  • Four years or more of experience using AutoCAD, REVIT, or similar Computer Aided Drafting software.
  • Four years or more of professional experience in designing (e.g., calculations, drawings, and specifications) hydronic piping heating/cooling systems (e.g., boilers, chillers, circulating pumps, valves, radiators, fan coil units, radiant floor tubing systems, or duct distribution systems similar to variable air volume (VAV) systems or constant volume systems); or Four years or more of professional experience in designing (e.g., calculations, drawings, and specifications) plumbing systems (e.g., interior/exterior potable water supply systems, restroom facilities, oil-water separators, kitchen equipment, facility water filtration systems, or interior/exterior sanitary sewer systems).
  • Meet the PA residency requirement.
  • Possess a valid federal or state-issued photo ID and pass a favorable NCIC screening for admittance to Fort Indiantown Gap.
  • Able to perform essential job functions.
  • Pass a background investigation.
  • Pass a medical examination.
  • Satisfactory criminal history reports including, but not limited to, PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI Fingerprint clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Develop plumbing and fire protection design work that follow codes and industry requirements
  • Examine design documents and provide technical direction to ensure quality and compliance
  • Evaluate mechanical systems and recommend improvements to support facility goals
  • Assist with inspections, respond to contractor questions, and help resolve field issues
  • Support energy initiatives by analyzing building performance and recommending efficiency measures
  • Advise facility staff on maintenance practices that extend system service life and reduce costs
