About The Position

REAL ALLOY is the market leader in third-party aluminum recycling and specification alloy production. We have 16 plants strategically located across the United States, Mexico, and Canada. We convert aluminum scrap and by-products into reusable aluminum metal for a growing number of applications across various industries. We are ideally positioned to respond to the needs of an increasingly recycling-conscious world. Advanced technologies enable us to process a large variety of scrap and dross and reduce the amount of residual waste from aluminum manufacturing that would otherwise end up as landfill. This position will be located in MISSISSAUGA, CANADA. As our new Mechanical Engineer and Project Manager, you will be involved in developing and implementing capital improvement projects that impact the Mississauga location’s safety, quality, and productivity metrics, while driving technology improvements and cost savings throughout the site. Leveraging an understanding of project management and mechanical systems, this individual will be a key contributor for capital project initiatives that maximize value at the plant.

Requirements

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering field, or relevant combination of education and experience.
  • 1-4 years of related experience, including planning, specification, and implementation of engineering design and/or maintenance projects within a heavy industrial environment.
  • Working knowledge of industrial mechanical systems (pneumatics, hydraulics, combustion, etc.)
  • Able to effectively communicate with multiple levels of management.
  • Able to effectively manage multiple projects concurrently.
  • Able to overcome obstacles and find solutions.
  • Able to work independently and part of a team.
  • Knowledge of structural design, safety regulations, and mechanical standards.
  • Working knowledge of relevant CSA/ANSI, industrial building codes and TSSA requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Manage capital projects from start to finish, including design work, budgeting, and preparing RFP/RFQ documentation.
  • Develop and revise mechanical layouts and engineering drawings, and collaborate with internal and external teams to meet quality and timeline requirements.
  • Support prototype builds, testing, and productivity improvements while ensuring equipment reliability and compliance with safety and regulatory standards.
  • Conduct root‑cause investigations, maintain technical documentation, prepare engineering reports and feasibility studies, and create mechanical/process drawings using AutoCAD.
  • Work closely with maintenance and corporate engineering to integrate mechanical systems effectively.
