About The Position

The Customer Support Business Group focuses on enabling our customers with premier customer support throughout their lifecycle with Lam. We drive performance, productivity, safety, and quality of customers installed base performance and deliver service and lifecycle solutions for their most critical equipment and processes. As a Mechanical Engineer at Lam, you will design and develop cutting-edge mechanical and electromechanical systems. In this role, you will directly contribute to CSBG engineering by conducting feasibility studies, performing testing, and guiding teams through detailed design and fabrication. You will provide critical design information that helps shape the packaging of our technology.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field with 5+ years of relevant experience; or a Master’s degree with 3+ years of experience; or equivalent practical experience.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to deliver clear and effective technical presentations.
  • Highly proficient with 3D CAD tools such as Creo, Siemens NX, Pro/ENGINEER (ProE), SolidWorks, and similar platforms.
  • Hands‑on experimental and design experience combined with strong fundamental engineering skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in project management, managing projects, or problem solving while managing time and multiple priorities.
  • Experience in Semiconductor industry is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Support the full life cycle of mechanical and electromechanical systems from concept through productization, including conceptualization, design, CAD modeling, development, and test/validation.
  • Design components using a variety of materials, including metals, ceramics, quartz, plastics, and advanced coatings.
  • Ensure documentation aligns with SEMI standards, Lam standards, and industry best practices for geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Conduct detailed analyses, including structural, finite element analysis (FEA), thermal and heat transfer, stress, vibration, fluid and gas flow dynamics, and manufacturability, to properly specify designs.
  • Develop and execute feasibility studies and test plans to characterize and validate design performance.
  • Prepare high-quality reports and technical presentations to clearly communicate design intent, evaluation results, and validation outcomes to diverse audiences during design reviews.
  • Collaborate with suppliers and internal cross-functional teams to ensure solutions are manufacturable, high quality, cost-optimized, and compliant with requirements.
  • Provide key deliverables, including Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA), technical specifications, risk analyses, test specifications, and design review presentations.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior engineers.
