About The Position

CDM Smith is seeking a Mechanical Engineer 1 to join our Boston office in 2027! This is an exciting opportunity for an early career engineer to work alongside industry-leading professionals on complex and meaningful projects. As a member of our Mechanical Engineering team, you will contribute to the planning, design, and delivery of innovative building and infrastructure solutions. Under direct supervision, creates engineering designs including: HVAC systems master planning & studies; HVAC & Plumbing systems; mechanical systems (co-generation); sustainability/energy efficiency/renewable energy/green buildings; etc. of basic complexity to meet client project requirements. Reviews draft designs for compliance with federal, state and local regulations. Ensures that firm policies and practices are followed on all designs. Performs site reviews and studies, as needed, to ensure designs are aligned with location specifications. Updates design requirements as necessary. Contributes to firm's TKM by developing white papers and technical design documentation of new or special case designs, studies, etc. Submits technical papers and designs for publishing to technical journals. Performs other duties as required. May create or work with a team to create a poster or other presentation material for a conference.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Architectural or Chemical Engineering, or in Engineering Technology or related discipline.
  • 0 years of experience.
  • Basic Knowledge of computer assisted design and drafting (CADD) 3D and 4D software and practices.
  • Basic Knowledge of engineer principles of design.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft business software (excel, word, etc.).
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities
