About The Position

Palmer Manufacturing & Supply, Inc., a U.S.-based leader in the design and production of no-bake foundry and industrial processing equipment, is seeking a full-time, on-site Mechanical Drafter/Designer in Springfield, OH. This role is crucial for assisting the engineering team in designing custom equipment for the metal casting industry. The ideal candidate will be a flexible, results-oriented problem-solver who thrives on variety and new challenges, as projects typically differ from one to the next. This position involves close collaboration with the production team and customers, with potential for up to 10% travel within the U.S. and internationally via automobile and airplane. A strong candidate could earn up to $70,000 annually.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or associate degree with 0-2 years of mechanical engineering experience
  • 3D modeling experience utilizing SolidWorks required
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD required
  • Candidates must be authorized to work in the U.S.
  • Possess an unrestricted U.S. driver license with an acceptable record
  • Pass a background check
  • Ability to travel around and outside the U.S. via automobile and airplane
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Outlook, Teams, Excel, Word) and Adobe Acrobat
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
  • Strong organizational and detailed analytical skills
  • Ability to handle multiple projects and complete work in a timely manner with minimal supervision
  • Proven ability to initiate and support change to the organization
  • Ability to interact with all levels of management

Nice To Haves

  • SolidWorks PDM experience preferred
  • Industrial machine shop or industrial manufacturing experience preferred
  • Foundry operations or bulk material handling experience preferred
  • Project Management experience preferred
  • Familiarity with ERP Systems, SAP preferred

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Engineering Team as needed and assigned
  • Provide application engineering support and cost projections for Sales
  • Utilize SolidWorks design software to perform engineering and design tasks
  • Utilize AutoCAD for simple layouts and to reference archived data
  • Leverages other design tools to ensure work is completed efficiently
  • Conducts research & development for new products
  • Drives implementation of standardization and modularization of product lines
  • Assists with analysis, development, and production of new and current designs
  • Always represents Palmer in a positive and professional manner
