About The Position

The Mechanical/Dimensional Inspector II is responsible for the performance of moderately complex mechanical inspections per the technical documentation provided using pre-trained and determined methods to determine product acceptability. Working with increased independence and in a team environment, the Mechanical/Dimensional Inspector II will consult with internal team members and consult with other disciplines to resolve issues as they arise.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent, or equivalent combination of education and experience, and 3-6 years of related work experience.
  • Possess high fluency in primary area of inspection ability and committed to developing capability to participate in others.
  • Ability to identify datum structures and correctly interpret GD&T in accordance with ASME Y14.5 with limited assistance required.
  • Highly proficient in blueprint reading.
  • Able to interpret dimensional tolerances and apply them to components of enhanced complexity.
  • Able to identify external specifications referenced in technical documentation and apply to the inspection process.
  • Ability to complete tasks as assigned in a timely manner.
  • Effectively communicate to supervision regarding problems and corrective action.
  • Basic working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Ability to work in a team environment, share information, and respect and assist other team members.
  • Must wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) where required.
  • Must comply with all work exposure EH&S training requirements and adhere to SIG SAUER Inc. security mandates.

Responsibilities

  • Verify inspection data with double gaging to ensure component integrity and resolve discrepancies found during part inspection.
  • When required, assist the MRB team in identification of dimensional issues.
  • Run moderately complex setups and inspection programs.
  • Diagnose and resolve issues that may arise in reported output and calibration. This includes basic programming, verifying downloads, and communicating results.
  • Interpret dimensional tolerances and apply them to components of enhance complexity.
  • Able to identify external specifications referenced in technical documentation and apply to the inspection process.
  • Participate in problem-solving teams for driving to root cause of internal and external quality failures, particularly related to the prevention of customer escapes.
  • Participate in 5S Workplace organizational activities and maintain the area in good working order through sustainment activities, including requests for maintenance assistance when needed.
  • Regular on-site attendance and punctuality is a necessary function of this position.
  • May be required to work in other functional areas and/or facilities depending on business needs.
  • May be required to work overtime or alternate shifts based on business needs.
  • Miscellaneous duties as assigned.
