About The Position

Körber is seeking a Mechanical Designer to produce mechanical designs for packaging machinery that meet customer specifications using creativity and innovation. This role involves handling all aspects of design engineering work, providing production support to machining and assembly areas, and utilizing Pro/E for modeling parts. The designer will draft detailed drawings, research manufacturing processes, perform prototyping, and evaluate design changes. Responsibilities also include reviewing product designs for compliance, working with vendors and customers, performing problem analysis and resolution, specifying and ordering tools/equipment, troubleshooting project-related issues, creating BOMs, and communicating directly with customers through meetings and presentations. Travel to customer sites for presentations is also required.

Requirements

  • B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience and knowledge in mechanical design in automation or related field
  • Two years of FAI design engineering experience
  • Moderate skill level in Pro/Engineer software
  • Capable of designing new concepts and standards
  • Able to think ahead and plan over a 3-6 month time span
  • Great leadership, interpersonal and communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously
  • Able to travel 10% of the year
  • Troubleshooting skills, both mechanical and electrical

Responsibilities

  • Produce a mechanical design for packaging machinery that meets the customers’ specifications using creativity and innovation
  • Handle all aspects of design engineering work
  • Provide production support to the machining and assembly areas
  • Use Pro/E to model purchase parts and custom parts
  • Draft detailed multi-view drawings of machine and products
  • Perform research on design of manufacturing processes
  • Perform prototyping activities of new product development
  • Evaluate and approve design changes, specifications, and drawing releases
  • Review product design for compliance and engineering principles, company standards, and customer’s requirements
  • Work with vendors, customers, and employees on a professional level
  • Determine problem analysis and problem resolution
  • Specify and order integrated tools and equipment
  • Troubleshoot to solve problems related to assigned projects
  • Create BOM’s for purchased parts and machined parts
  • Directly communicate with customers in the form of meetings and presentations to understand and define their needs
  • Travel to customer’s plant to give presentation on their system and the assemblies that make up the system
