Mechanical Designer

Invinity Energy SystemsVancouver, BC
CA$60,000 - CA$80,000Onsite

About The Position

Invinity is seeking an experienced Mechanical Designer to join its product development organization on the hardware design team. In this role, you will support the development of mechanical products by creating and maintaining detailed designs, drawings, and documentation, and by collaborating with engineers and cross-functional teams to improve product quality, manufacturability, and consistency. Invinity Energy Systems is small enough that every team member plays a critical role in our daily business, but large enough to participate in landmark clean energy projects around the world. With its exposure to our most impactful emerging products, this role will be critical in us delivering on those opportunities. If you are great at what you do, willing to engage with our dedicated, collaborative culture, and motivated by taking on and delivering against some of the biggest opportunities in energy today, we’d love to hear from you.

Requirements

  • Diploma, degree, or equivalent training in mechanical design, mechanical engineering technology, or a related field.
  • Advanced proficiency in SolidWorks, Onshape, or a similar CAD system, including sheet metal design, electrical harness routing, and management of large assemblies.
  • Strong understanding of design for manufacturing, tolerance stack-up, GD&T, and practical mechanical design principles.
  • Ability to interpret and work from engineering calculations, test results, and design requirements to support detailed mechanical design.
  • 5+ years of experience creating designs for fabricated components and assemblies using a range of manufacturing processes, including welding, forming, molding, and related techniques.
  • Safety-focused, with an understanding of applicable regulatory and product design requirements.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with DFMEA and fault tree analysis (FTA).
  • Experience designing fuel cells, flow batteries, or other electrochemical systems.
  • Experience supporting supplier coordination and contract manufacturing activities.
  • Experience with injection molding, rotomolding, and thermoforming.

Responsibilities

  • Support the design of mechanical products, including system layout, packaging, and overall product configuration.
  • Create and maintain 3D CAD models, part and assembly drawings, bills of materials, and design documentation for components and subsystems.
  • Support prototype builds, review first articles, and incorporate feedback into design updates.
  • Assist with verification testing by preparing test hardware, documenting results, and updating designs as needed.
  • Provide technical documentation and design support for component sourcing and supplier coordination.
  • Maintain product lifecycle data, including drawings, bills of materials, specifications, and revision-controlled design records.
