About The Position

Kanak Naturals is a growing manufacturer of innovative, sustainable single-use dinnerware and packaging solutions. We are committed to developing environmentally responsible products while continuously improving our manufacturing processes and product performance. We are seeking a talented and detail-oriented Mechanical Designer to join our engineering team. This role will be responsible for product design, tooling development, equipment improvements, and engineering documentation using SolidWorks CAD software.

Requirements

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Design Technology, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of mechanical design experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Advanced proficiency in SolidWorks CAD, including parts, assemblies, and detailed drawings.
  • Experience creating manufacturing drawings utilizing GD&T and industry drafting standards.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical components, materials, fabrication methods, and manufacturing processes.
  • Ability to interpret technical specifications and engineering requirements.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Knowledge of tooling design, fixtures, automation, and machine design.

Responsibilities

  • Develop 3D models, assemblies, and detailed manufacturing drawings using SolidWorks.
  • Design components, fixtures, tooling, and production equipment improvements.
  • Support new product development activities from concept through production launch.
  • Create and maintain engineering documentation, bills of materials (BOMs), specifications, and revision-controlled drawings.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing, quality, and operations teams to identify and implement process improvements.
  • Participate in design reviews to ensure designs meet functional, manufacturing, quality, and cost requirements.
  • Generate prototypes and assist with testing, validation, and troubleshooting activities.
  • Assist with project planning, scheduling, and implementation of engineering projects.
  • Support root cause analysis and corrective action activities related to product or equipment performance.
