About The Position

Smardt is in full expansion and we’re hiring a Mechanical Designer in our Product Engineering team for our Dorval team (close to blvd. des Sources)! Requirements

  • Bilingual (English/French)
  • Technical Diploma (Drafting, engineering)
  • 1–5 years of experience in manufacturing, industrial engineering, process engineering, or related environment
  • Working knowledge of Autodesk Inventor for basic 3D part modeling, assemblies, and detailed drawings under supervision.
  • Fundamental understanding of design for manufacturability and assembly, including basic layouts, dimensions, and clearances.
  • Exposure to Bill of Materials (BOM) creation and maintenance, with guidance on documentation standards and revision control.
  • Proficient level knowledge of French and English. French is required to communicate with our team in Québec. English may be required to communicate with our team located outside Québec, as well as to understand certain technical documentation available only in English.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing, Mechanical, Industrial, or related Engineering discipline (an asset)
  • OIQ (an asset), PMP, P.Eng., Six Sigma (an asset)
  • HVAC/refrigeration experience (an asset)
  • Understanding of basic engineering calculations, with an introduction to fundamental refrigeration system principles and basic structural concepts.

Responsibilities

  • Review project submittals and provide detailed designs for production using 3D design software,
  • Prepare 3d models and drawings. Perform design and detailing activities as required,
  • Review the change requests, provide timely follow-up on the conclusions,
  • Work with production to solve design issues,
  • Work with the quality department as required,
  • Prepare specifications, change orders, engineering memos and other related documentation,
  • Prepares necessary detail, assembly and arrangement drawings required to have parts and equipment manufactured, assembled, erected, and maintained in accordance with healthy and safety policies,
  • Create detailed layouts to determine detailed dimensions and to check clearances,
  • Perform calculations as required to assure quality designs.
