About The Position

MDS is seeking a skilled Intermediate / Senior Mechanical Designer - Technologist to join their dynamic team. This role involves the design and selection of mechanical components, creation of precise engineering drawings, and conceptualization of mechanical components and systems using a deep understanding of materials, processes, and technologies. Requirements

  • 9+ years of experience in Mechanical Design.
  • Proficiency in drawing standards, with a primary focus on ASME Y14.5 (current and prior versions).
  • Strong command of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Expertise in 3D Modeling software, including AutoDesk Inventor.
  • Proficiency in 2D Drawing software, specifically AutoDesk AutoCAD.
  • Familiarity with file management software, such as AutoDesk Vault.
  • In-depth knowledge of manufacturing and assembly processes, covering welding, forming, and machining.
  • Working knowledge of PC hardware and software, including Windows, Word, and Excel.
  • Excellent English communication skills, both oral and written.

  • Knowledge of Revit

Responsibilities

  • Take part in the design and selection of mechanical components, translating concepts into detailed engineering drawings.
  • Apply creativity and expertise to conceptualize and design mechanical components and systems that meet project requirements.
  • Conduct in-depth research on materials, processes, and technologies to identify optimal solutions for designs.
  • Select components and efficiently input data into Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) systems.
  • Collaborate closely with engineers and other stakeholders to ensure designs align with project goals.
  • Actively participate in design reviews, working with the team to identify and resolve design challenges.
  • Develop prototypes and rigorously validate designs, ensuring their functionality and efficiency.
  • Create meticulous Detail, Welding/Machining, and Mechanical Assembly Drawings in accordance with ASME Y14.5 standards or other relevant guidelines.
  • Prepare Facility Layout and Building drawings, tailored to the unique requirements of each project.
  • Ensure impeccable drawing presentation, maintain accuracy, and determine the optimal level of detail required for manufacturing.
  • Provide technical support to various departments within the organization, from manufacturing to sales and customer support.
