About The Position

EXP is hiring a Mechanical Designer/Engineer to join the Mechanical team in its Orlando, Florida office. The role focuses on HVAC design projects in the hospitality, entertainment, and healthcare sectors. The designer/engineer will create and coordinate HVAC system designs, perform calculations and equipment selection, verify existing systems for renovation projects, and manage design work within project plans. The position uses AutoCAD MEP and/or Revit and involves coordination with other disciplines, vendors, and senior staff.

Requirements

At least 3 years of experience designing HVAC systems for hospitality, entertainment, and healthcare projects.
Bachelor's degree in engineering specializing in HVAC or mechanical engineering.
Experience with Revit MEP.
Good written and verbal communication skills.

Nice To Haves

EIT certification.

Responsibilities

Perform hands-on CAD work using AutoCAD MEP and/or Revit.
Perform heating and cooling load calculations using industry software such as Trace, Energy Pro, and DOE.
Select and schedule equipment under the oversight of senior staff.
Lay out air-side and water-side systems on working drawings.
Use fan and pump curves to select equipment appropriately for each application.
Communicate with equipment vendors to determine product application requirements.
Perform field verification and take-offs of existing systems for renovation projects.
Coordinate HVAC details with other disciplines, including MEP, fire protection, architecture, and structural teams.
Maintain the Engineering Calculation Book for projects.
Understand work planning and manage the design process within the hours available in the work plan.
Apply knowledge of constant- and variable-flow systems and their equipment.
