About The Position

EXP is hiring a Mechanical Designer / Engineer to join its Mechanical team, supporting Aviation, Data Center, and Commercial Building projects in one of multiple locations in Florida or Texas. The role involves mechanical design work using Revit and industry software, equipment selection and coordination, field verification, and collaboration with other disciplines. The position is part of a diverse, employee-owned company focused on innovative solutions and sustainable results.

Requirements

At least 2 years of experience designing Plumbing and Fire Protection systems for Aviation, Data Center, and Commercial Building projects, or recent graduation with internship experience in plumbing and fire protection.
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, preferably specializing in plumbing and fire protection.
Familiarity with AutoCAD and Revit MEP.
Good written and verbal communication skills.

EIT Certification.

Responsibilities

Perform hands-on CAD work using Revit platforms.
Perform heating and cooling load calculations using industry software such as Trace, Energy Pro, and DOE.
Select and schedule equipment with oversight from senior staff.
Lay out air- and water-side systems on working drawings.
Understand fan and pump curves to select appropriate equipment for applications.
Communicate with equipment vendors to determine product application requirements.
Perform field verification and take-offs of existing systems for renovation projects.
Coordinate HVAC details with other disciplines, including MEP, fire protection, architecture, and structural teams.
Maintain the Engineering Calculation Book for projects.
Understand work planning and manage the design process within the hours allocated in the work plan.
Understand constant- and variable-flow systems and apply equipment appropriately.
