About The Position

If you enjoy the precision of drafting and the satisfaction of getting the details right, we have a job for you in Ariel’s Drafting Department in Mount Vernon, OH. As a Mechanical Designer, you’ll take sketches and engineering concepts and turn them into detailed 2D drawings and 3D models used to build real-world equipment. You’ll work alongside engineering and technical teams to provide the tools necessary to support purchasing, machining and the assembly of finished products.

Requirements

• Associate’s degree in engineering, drafting, or relevant field required
• Experience in, or the ability to use computer-aided design and 3D modeling software
• Aptitude to modify 2D layouts and 3D models as instructed
• Ability to update the drawing’s change records to track progress and history of the change requests
• Ability to create drawings of parts and components with angles and surface views for manuals and training aids

Nice To Haves

• 2 or more years of relevant drafting experience is preferred

Responsibilities

• Use Computer Aided Design software and 3D Modeling software to transform ideas and rough sketches into detailed drawings, layouts, and 3D models
• Work as a member of a collaborative drafting team alongside Engineering and other technical resources
• Work closely with Engineering resources on the creation of new drawings
• Work closely with technical teams on design changes, updating drawings and models accordingly
• Update drawing change records to track the progress and history of changes made
