As a Mechanical Design Engineering Intern at Collins Aerospace, you will be working on teams to develop new, advanced aircraft air data products as well as supporting existing products in manufacturing. Our Avionics team advances flight deck solutions, airborne communications, vision systems, sensors and fire protection for commercial and military customers around the world. As a Mechanical Engineering Intern, you will gain exposure to and support in the mechanical aspects of various phases of a development program from requirements development through design and test to implementation at full rate production. You will also provide technical support to our operations teams on programs currently in production. As an engineering intern in our business, you will have access to a world class wind tunnel, environmental test lab, and forensics investigation lab to help our team continue delivering industry leading air data solutions.

Requirements

  • Must be pursuing Bachelor’s or Advanced degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) major and actively enrolled through the completion of the internship/co-op session.
  • Experience may be obtained through on-the-job experience, research, coursework, or projects.
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, and/or PowerPoint)
  • Experience with CAD tools (CREO is preferred) including both modeling and 2D drawings
  • Experience working on cross-functional teams
  • Prior RTX internship, co-op, or work experience
  • Experience with technical skills in the areas of measurement, instrumentation, and environmental testing.

Responsibilities

  • Develop new, advanced aircraft air data products.
  • Support existing products in manufacturing.
  • Gain exposure to and support in the mechanical aspects of various phases of a development program from requirements development through design and test to implementation at full rate production.
