Mechanical Design Engineer

Intuitive•Sunnyvale, CA
•$99,700 - $158,700•Hybrid

About The Position

The Mechanical Design Engineer will steer early assessment, design, development, and testing of novel instrument and accessory product concepts. Working with a technical team and external suppliers, the engineer will develop and evaluate technology solutions, establish design requirements to meet customer needs, and refine designs for transfer and commercialization. The role requires creative problem-solving in a high-energy team environment, including when early-stage product development involves time pressures and incomplete information. The position focuses on mechanical designs for Intuitive’s Ion endoluminal platform instruments and accessories. The engineer will explore materials, manufacturing processes, and technologies; translate clinical, usability, and business needs into design requirements; create detailed drawings and conduct tolerance analysis; investigate failures; develop test methods; and collaborate with process and supplier engineering to support design for manufacturing and successful design transfer. The role is listed as a day-shift position with a set schedule and onsite work each week; the percentage of onsite work will be determined by the leader. Compensation depends on job level and qualifications. The listed target salary range is $117,300–$158,700 for Region 1 and $99,700–$134,900 for Region 2.
