The Mechanical Design Engineer will learn Schmalz Vacuum Automation & Handling Systems product ranges and apply them to application projects. This role involves designing custom End-of-Arm Tooling (EOATs) for material handling systems used on robots, gantries, and manual systems. The engineer will prepare various types of drawings, including dimensional, approval, and assembly drawings, ensuring they meet customer requirements. Responsibilities also include creating new part numbers, learning and applying local standard products, and providing design support to customers, distributors, and sales engineers. The position involves assisting with testing projects, supporting local product development (design, prototyping, testing, manufacturing, roll-out), interfacing with machine shops, and collaborating with the Assembly Team for design information and debugging. Additionally, the role requires producing operating manuals and project documentation, maintaining design records, revising drawings, managing third-party item databases, performing cost comparisons, and providing on-site support at customer locations. Other duties may include CAD database management, PLM tasks, and supporting colleagues.
