Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical preferred; Civil, Electrical, or Chemical considered)
  • Experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment with exposure to: Machine design
  • Manufacturing processes (machining, sheet metal, welding, assembly, quality)
  • Material selection
  • Electrical and mechanical component selection
  • Thermodynamics and fluid dynamics
  • Piping and pipe supports
  • ASME pressure vessel design (as applicable)
  • Drives, gears, and motors (as applicable)
  • Seismic design and analysis (as applicable)
  • Failure analysis and reverse engineering (as applicable)
  • Strong working knowledge of SolidWorks, ERP systems, and Microsoft Office
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and P&IDs
  • Clear, effective written and verbal communication skills, including technical writing
  • Proven initiative, organization, and ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Collaborative, team-first mindset with the ability to work across departments
  • Positive, professional approach when working with vendors and customers
  • Demonstrated ownership mentality and alignment with Sentry’s A-Player competencies: Aptitude, Alliance, Agility, Accountability, Awareness & Anticipation

Responsibilities

  • Analyze new and existing products for design, function, reliability, and manufacturability
  • Create and refine mechanical part and assembly drawings to capture design intent and meet customer requirements
  • Evaluate new applications and designs for operational, manufacturing, and application feasibility
  • Prepare drawings, Bills of Materials (BOMs), Installation, Operation & Maintenance manuals, and other technical documentation
  • Apply applicable codes and standards such as ASME, ATEX, ANSI, TEMA, CRN, and others as required
  • Assist with testing and debugging products in the shop
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously in a deadline-driven environment
  • Collaborate with manufacturing, quality, supply chain, sales, and service teams to resolve issues and implement design changes through the Engineering Change process
  • Support new product development, product modifications, and related technical and marketing documentation
  • Provide technical guidance to less experienced engineers and technicians
  • Take on other responsibilities as business needs evolve
