About The Position

The Mechanical Design Engineer is responsible for overseeing and coordinating design activities to ensure compliance with project specifications, schedules, and safety standards. This role involves project planning for mechanical systems related to new and retrofit design and construction, a strong focus on system knowledge, equipment installation, handover plan, and project closeout. Additionally, the position requires management of design engineering firms for new and retrofit projects. The engineer will monitor design packages and field installations for large engineering construction projects, ensuring adherence to safety, quality, schedule, and cost requirements. It is essential to maintain code compliance with mechanical standards, building codes, plumbing codes, and environmental regulations throughout the construction lifecycle. The engineer is also responsible for ensuring system performance for new construction, remodel construction, and sustaining operation evaluation of existing facilities. This includes identifying, tracking, managing, resolving, and communicating project issues throughout all phases of project-related work. The role involves leading strategic fabrication and support project planning for mechanical systems related to new and retrofit construction. Furthermore, the engineer will develop, review, and approve site construction specifications pertaining to mechanical piping, equipment, and the associated distribution rooms and buildings.

Requirements

  • Bachelors Degree
  • 5+ Years of project management and design experience
  • Preferred focus in HVAC, exhaust, plumbing, chilled water/ heating hot water systems, compressed dry air generation and distribution in an industrial setting

Responsibilities

  • Manage design of new and retrofit manufacturing facilities.
  • Review and drive Mechanical Drawing packages such as HVAC, exhaust, plumbing, chilled water/ heating hot water systems, compressed dry air generation and distribution to completion.
  • Perform and review utility demands for existing and new facilities.
  • Coordinate between Design and Construction to ensure proper flow of information.
  • Review / Approve RFIs, submittals, and material submittals.
