Mechanical Design Engineer

Intuitive•Sunnyvale, CA

About The Position

The Mechanical Design Engineer will lead early assessment, design, development, and testing of novel instrument and accessory concepts. Working with a technical team and outside suppliers, the engineer will develop and evaluate technology solutions, establish design requirements based on customer needs, and refine designs for transfer and commercialization. The role calls for creative problem solving and effective collaboration in a fast-paced environment where early-stage development may involve time pressure and incomplete information. The engineer will work on mechanical designs for the Ion endoluminal platform, communicate design progress and decisions, investigate failures, and help ensure designs can be manufactured and transferred successfully. Intuitive is a global leader in robotic-assisted surgery and minimally invasive care, developing technologies including the da Vinci surgical system and Ion.
